I think it’s safe to say that Ligne Roset knows that they are doing when it comes to modern furniture design. So does Francois Bauchet, who created this Yang Sofa for them.  Yang is a series of loveseats that fit together like puzzle pieces.  They look great standing alone, in pairs, or all together as seen in the image below.

Different enough to catch our eye (with its smooth lines and bold colors) but practical enough to work in our homes, Ligne Roset has done it again.  Check out more of Bauchet’s work here, as he too obviously deserves recognition for this great design.

When you think of modern furniture, bookshelves aren’t the first thing to come to mind- unless maybe you’re a librarian. Turns out though, that bookshelves too can be very cool and very modern. This vertical bookshelf is made of powder-coated steel and was designed by Rick Ivey.

According to his website, Ivey strives to push the limits of his chosen materials in an effort to better understand them.  This allows him to challenge conventional forms and traditional approaches to furniture. If this bookshelf is any indication of what he means, I say keep it up Ivey! Learn more about this designer.

While it looks stitched together (hence its name), the Stitch Chair is actually made entirely of aluminum plate polished with different lacquer colors.    In addition to its unconventional look, this chair is also unique in its ability to fold up smaller than your average folding chair. In fact, it takes 25 of these chairs folded up to take up the amount of space that one open Stitch Chair does. The Stitch Chair is the work of Adam Goodrum and was selected as a best design in the concepts category of the 2004 American International Design Review.

Thanksgiving is almost here and that means it’s time for wine.  Whether you like to indulge in something red or something white, if you appreciate wine you’ll want to check out Sebastian Bernge’s new art exhibit that focus on just that.  The exhibit is called CRU and will be on display at the Aram Gallery in London from November 28- January 10.

Bernge’s projects are characteristically innovative yet familiar, and this is again the case with CRU.  CRU includes concepts for transporting, serving, storing, and of course enjoying wine.  Learn more about the designer here and more about the Aram Gallery here.

What’s not to love about this lighting?  Very modern designs meet true innovation in these great lights from Owindo. Founder and Chief Designer Max Lam considers his mission to be filling the environment with creative and brilliant lighting. To Lam, a successful piece is one that is able to enhance an environment with or without illumination.  I think it’s apparent that he’s succeeded in these two pieces – the Prism Sixty Pendant Light  (left) and  Tube Complex Pendant Light  (right).  I can say with confidence that every piece on his site is worth taking a look at.  See for yourself.

Well, kind off. Besides its obvious style, the reason I like this privacy screen is that it’s customizable. The acrylic squares are removable and can be arranged in any way throughout the screen.  Not only can you “design” your own color pattern, you can choose from opaque and translucent pieces to customize your own level of privacy.
