Since it’s Earth Day, I decided to bring you something green. These may not be the most glamorous lights on the market, but they are still quite stunning in my opinion. From designer Dana Otto, the Growth Series is a collection of lamps made of recycled paper and wires. Doesn’t sound like much, but clearly the result is proof that recycled materials + innovation = brilliant.  Now let’s all go plant some trees.  More great design on the horizon for tomorrow.

Everyone who knows me (or has had a five minute conversation with me) knows how much I love coffee. So when I heard that I could carry a coffee maker with me on the go I was pretty excited, and once I saw how stylish it was, well it became pretty much a no brainer.  Called the Nilko, this coffee maker comes from designer Alisson Wilson Ströher and despite its good looks is actually all about function. Its swing arm enables it to serve cups and containers of various sizes, and a built-in reservoir stores enough water for several cups. While currently just a concept, Ströher estimates that the Nilko should retail for around $130. My personal thanks for a job well done.

Customization is in, and from the looks of things it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon.  It’s easy to understand why, as each of us enjoys personalizing our space with our individual style.  Yet another great example of this is the Peel Off Light designed by Sehwan Oh.  This lamp is different from many of the current customizable offerings on the market in that each consumer is sold the same product, and customization begins once you’ve received it. With the Peel Off Light you peel off pre-scored tiles creating a mosaic that lets as little or as much light as you want shine through. Check more from Sehwan Oh here.

But this time they’re on the wall. From the Grateful Thread (got to love the name) come recycled vinyl clocks. Each is made of a genuine vinyl record with custom design hands, making each one-of-a-kind.  Pretty awesome I must say. I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one of these. Check it out here.

I believe I’ve mentioned him once before, but if you haven’t checked out Kenneth Wingard yet you definitely should. Kenneth quit his day job to create a collection that’s illustrates his response to home décor  that he saw as too modern and too expensive.  I for one am very glad he took the leap.
