Shtickers

Shtickers

I love these new wall stickers from Shtickers.  I’ve been wanting to make a little blackboard somewhere in my home with that chalkboard paint people have been talking about, but this is so much easier!  In addition to the obvious, that unlike other wall stickers these can be drawn on like a blackboard, they are also different in that they can be easily removed and used in other rooms.  Yes, while most wall stickers are easily removable most cannot be reused FYI.

Blackboard Wall Stickers

I’d kind of like to combine these images, and have the light bulb sticker near my desk ready to go when I have my next bright idea. Check out all kinds of Shtickers here.

Lego Mania

Lego House

I guess this could have fit in well with last week’s Odd Decorating Choices post, but I think this one is actually really cool.  This house is the work of James May, a well-known toy fanatic from the UK.  He plans to live in the house once it is complete, and it will even have a working bathroom made of legos (don’t ask me how, but that’s what he says). Want to take a guess how many legos he plans to use once all is said and done?  Ok guess and then scroll down.

Lego Hose 2

816 million.  That’s a lot of legos! Were you close?

Paper Table

Paper Table

This isn’t new, but I recently came upon it for the first time and felt it was something worth sharing.  Called the Paper Table, this table is actually made of recycled paper and features an oil finish.

This table is the work of Matt Gagnon, a graduate of the architecture school at Cornell University who now has his own studio in Brooklyn. Gagnon experiments with proportional relationships and the interaction between people and the space that surrounds them. He likes to push the limits of each medium, which in this case results in quite a stunning table. I wouldn’t have thought paper, especially recycled paper, could be pushed that far. I guess that’s why Gagnon is the artist and not me! See more of his work here.

Babycotpod

Babycotpod

When Shaun Milburn became a father for the second time, it came to his attention that there were no baby cribs or basinets on the market that were modern in style. Not a fan of the traditional styling that was widely available, he decided to design a range of modern carrycots, from which Babycotpod was born.

Milburn’s line of products is currently being developed and is expected to be available later this year.  See more here.

Odd Decorating Choices

It’s Friday so let’s have some fun today.  Like many of you I’m sure, there are quite a few home and design blogs that I read daily. In the last few days or so, I came upon several very interesting (ok odd) home decorating decisions. Here are two of the “best”.  I hope you enjoy –

Loius Vuitton House

This first one comes from one of my daily reads Freshome. Someone in Mexico really likes Louis Vuitton that’s for sure.   Definitely different, besides the obvious fact that this is an odd decorating choice for sure, I’m impressed that someone took the time to paint the LV logo on his/her entire exterior. From that perspective it’s pretty impressive, though I’m pretty sure this is not what the people at Louis Vuitton had in mind when this now iconic design was first conceived.

Star Wars House

This tribute to Star Wars comes from Unplggd. While I’m sure plenty of guys who grew up with Star Wars still hold a special place for it, this one takes it to a whole new level. These are only two images from the home, but I assure you each and every room is decked out in full Star Wars décor. Wow. That’s really all I can say about this.

Star Wars House

Happy Friday and I’ll see you back here on Monday!  If you come across any more really strange décor choices, please send them my way!

Dropmacro

Drop Macro Lamp

One look at this lamp and you can appreciate its cool, sleek design, but once you learn its story it becomes even more captivating. You might be able to figure out the inspiration for this lamp from its name – Dropmacro lamp. If not it’s ok I will tell you. Its creator, Emir Rifat Isik, was inspired by a macro photo of water in motion, leading to the creation of a lamp that mimics this same fluid motion. So simple yet so perfect, and illustrated in this stunning form See more from this talented designer here.
