Jet Lag

I’m feeling a bit jet lagged after traveling to the beautiful island of Bora Bora last week. Whenever I travel to the UK, which is five hours ahead, I never feel as sluggish and unmotivated as I have after my return from this trip – which was 6 hours behind. They say you need a day for each hour to recover, but I’m hoping it won’t take me the full six days!

Perhaps my tiredness and lack of ambition is coming from the fact that I left such an unbelievably gorgeous place. We stayed in one of the bungalows over the water and the scenery was more breathtaking as each day passed. If you’re a Kardashian follower, you may have seen the episodes where the family traveled to Bora Bora, which took place at the same resort that we stayed in.

Although the food could have been a bit more fabulous, it didn’t even matter because we were surrounded by the most gorgeous natural sites, including that crystal blue water. Have you ever been to any of the French Polynesian islands? The skies were perfect, the mountains and palm trees gorgeous and the people were extremely friendly.

The only problem is leaving! How do you recover from jet lag when you return from traveling? Is there any way to snap yourself out of the sluggishness?

Gift Ideas for Father’s Day

Thank goodness someone told me it was Father’s Day this upcoming Sunday, or else I would have thought it was the following week and been completely unprepared! Since it’s only Monday, you have a few days left to pick up a gift for Sunday, or just enough time to have something shipped.

Are the fathers in your life easy to shop for? Most of the time, we just get my dad plain old ties and dress shirts, so for this gift guide, we’re staying practical but adding some fun and color to the mix.

Here’s what we’re thinking for this Father’s Day:

1 – Hot Sauce of the Month Club

2 – Olympus Stylus TG-830 Camera

3 – Movado BOLD Watch

4 – 1901 ‘Saddle Up’ Oxford Shoes

5 – The Art of Shaving Gift Set

What are gifts are you giving for Father’s Day?

Weekly Space: 6.7.13

Happy Frday!!!

Do you have any exciting plans this weekend? I’m traveling back home after an exotic island vacation. From the looks of it, it seems that ill be heading home to tropical storm Andrea – whoo hoo!

My island getaway has presented me with an amazingly comfortable bed with a romantic canopy, similar to the bed shown in the space above. So enticing and flowy, this looks like it would be quite easy to recreate. Assuming you have the right bed with the tall posts – just add some white curtains and the island vibe is yours all year, even if hut surroundings don’t match the crystal blue waters! I may need to redo my bedroom to recreate the memories of my trip forever!

What do you think about this space? Are there any other aspects of it that speak to you?

Polka Dot Walls: Love This Look?

Lately the look of polka dots can be a bit whimsical to me, almost a bit childish for lack of a better word.

But this bathroom here doesn’t look that way to me at all, it looks mature and stylish, glamorous even. Maybe because of the black and white color scheme, or the continuation of the design from the walls up to the ceiling.

What are your feelings on polka dots within decor in general? How about in this bathroom – do you love this look?

Product Pick: Festival Chair

This week’s product pick could possibly be the best chair I’ve seen in a while. I am not a big gardener or yard worker by any means, but I would put a wheelbarrow chair in my living room any day. The stainless steel wheelbarrow is what really gets me. Although the colorful ones would prove to be quite nostalgic, the silver is undoubtedly more stylish!

Known as the Festival Chair, this awesome piece is designed by Tilt. You can read more about the chair and the meaning behind its creation here.

What are your thoughts on the Festival Chair?

Malibu Magic

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Los Angeles and several of its surrounding suburbs. On one of our afternoons out there, we jumped into our rental car and headed to Malibu, just driving up and down the coast.

Looking at all of the beautiful homes and the gorgeous views kept us occupied for hours. On my next trip out there, I can’t imagine staying in a hotel…I’ll prefer to rent a home close to the beach.

The exteriors of the homes in Malibu are to die for, and I can’t even imagine what the interiors look like. Now that I’ve had some time on my iPad, I’ve been scouring real estate sites and the Houzz app to get some glimpses inside gorgeous Malibu homes.

Have you been to Malibu?
