From designer Michael Schoner comes the Boombench- think boom box but you sit on it.  Yup, while it may appear to be a bench in shape, the Boombench is much much more.  Via Bluetooth, this bench streams music from nearly cell phones, laptops, etc. Take a walk past this bench and you may just become the DJ for everyone around.

Who doesn’t love multifunctional furniture? The innovative Also Chair can be used as an armchair, perfect for reading or lounging and watching your favorite show. Flip it over and it becomes a desk, complete with a space for storing books. A great solution for small spaces like studios and dorms.  This Chair comes from Turkish designer Akin Bacioglu, but I don’t believe it is available for sale quite yet. Thoughts?

Visual Reference Studio creates furniture and installations that promote interaction between people and objects.  Here is the Please Touch Pillow. Touching this pillow leaves behind a temporary print. It will also change color on its own in a warm room.  The Please Touch Pillow is a bit on the pricey side, but you have to give Visual Reference Studio credit for such an innovative idea.

I’ve been happy to see a lot of modern wallpaper around lately. Like I’ve said before,  I’ve never been much of a fan until know, and it’s nice to see all the variety of modern and contemporary options being offered. Nothing I’ve seen though has been quite like what I bring you today from Jonas Samson.

This high-tech light-emitting wallpaper makes 2D surfaces (aka your walls) into light sources.  When turned off, this wallpaper looks just like the standard variety.  Kudos to Jonas for some real creativity and for implementing it in such a stylish way. Check him out here.

I discovered Henry Road at this year’s gift show. Named after the road the designer used to live on, Henry Road offers a collection of furniture, pillows, lampshades, bags, and more. The Patchwork Pair pictured here is my favorite thing on their site. It’s really not the style I usually go for, but there is just something about them that I love. I think it’s the bright color of the patchwork upholstery against the traditional look of the wood.  And there’s something about the mismatched fabrics too… that somehow manage to work together in this set.

than how do you explain the Tango Variation chair?  From industrial designer Ante Vojnovic, the Tango Variation is a collection of chairs that are meant to mimic the tango. Each chair has a different shape, and they work together as a collection to represent movement.

On his website, Ante says that he is “busy at watching the things that don’t exist”. With the Tango Variation, he seems to effectively communicate the abstract (the movement of the Tango) with ease. I guess watching the things the don’t exist is working for him. See more here.
