Weekly Six: 5.11.12

TGIF!!! Any plans for the weekend? Hopefully the weather forecast is looking lovely in your neck of the woods.

Here’s six things I’ve enjoyed this week:

1) This all mint living room. Would you do it?

2) A little neon makes everything better.

3) Suddenly obsessed with quinoa and scouting out different recipes. What’s your fave?

4) Traditional and modern unite in this acrylic dining table.

5) If you have a pooch, would it hang out in this modern dog house?

6) Show the love in your home with the Love Collection by Joel Escalona.

Happy weekend! What have you found this week? Share in the comments!

Sofa Searching

Sofa searching is like soul searching. [Or soul mate searching.] It’s really tough to find the perfect one!

Anywa, I may or may not have mentioned the mess of a basement I have due to Hurricane Irene’s visit in August of last year. We had just moved in in July and the finished basement was a major plus – until the hurricane hit and we had to rip up the floors, cut up some sheet rock and treat it for black mold. Gross!

I’m mentioning the basement now because we’re finally having someone come in to work on it – which means time to plan for new furniture! Specifically a sofa, because that’s what will be the most important down there. There are tons of furniture stores NYC and NJ, but since I probably won’t venture out, I luckily found a really great site, Comfyco.com, that will deliver to my home for free. Free delivery on a sofa? Yes, please!

Plus, they carry Coaster Furniture, which is perfect for what we’re planning for – stylish but extremely affordable. Since it’s just the two of us, the basement isn’t a place that we’ll use all that often, but I am thinking that I want a nice spacious sofa, maybe even a sofa bed, for when we have extra guests. (So they don’t have to sleep on my good sofa!)

I’ve still got a while to browse, as they are just about to start fixing up the sheet rock, but the last time I purchased a sofa, it was a long process. Although, I am really liking those modern sofa beds that look like a normal sofa by day and then flatten out by pushing the back down by night. Do you have any sofa recommendations? Sleeper sofas?

Holy Goldness

Do you ever come across an image of a space that is so good it stops you in your tracks? So good it makes you consider selling and getting rid of everything in a similar space in your home just so you can completely recreate the look for yourself?

Because that just happened to me. I mean, I love my living room, but I think I love this one more. That gold coffee table and the gold wall decor and the white sofa and the patterned rug – I just can’t. The lamps and the side tables and the pillows – please!!! I don’t know what it is about this room that is making me need it, but I’m going to go with the gold coffee table. It’s just fabulous.

Well anyway, enough of my rambling, has this ever happened to you? Have you ever acted on it and actually recreated the look for yourself?

And if anyone knows more about the room, let me know! I found it on Pinterest which led to a tumblr without any information.

Panton Chairs Six Different Ways

The Panton Chair is an undoubtedly a classic piece, like a classic blazer or button down that can be worn many ways.

We’ve got this modern classic chair here in six different ways, starting with a large wooden table, as a side chair in a living room, around a sleek glass dining table, keeping it classic around a tulip table, as a desk chair and finally in a mini version in a kids room. Not all chairs can do that!

How would you style the versatile Panton Chair?

Product Pick: Layer Sofa by Marco Sousa

The Layer Sofa Collection is part of the Branca Collection by Portuguese designer Marco Sousa. With a sofa, loveseat, and ottoman available, the Layer collection is made from wood, steel and Kvadrat fabrics.

A unique take on the typical look of a sofa, the additional layer of cushions adds a whimsically chic style to the pieces. My favorites are the colorful pieces, as the gradient effect adds even more sleek style to it!

What do you think of the Layer Sofa collection?

Digging for Gold

Digging for a gold lamp, that is.

As I was searching for images for this post, I realized I have a serious addiction to gold lamps. There’s nothing wrong with that right? Guess that just means I need to put one in my home so I can stop continually blogging about them!

Anyway, I saw the first gold lamp on Bravo’s Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis. Do you watch that show? Last week was the first time I’ve tuned in and I wouldn’t mind watching it again this week. I’ve been dreaming about that lamp since I first saw it and I can’t find it anywhere. Except in that second image. I thought perhaps Bravo would have it sourced on their site, but I didn’t see anything.

Finally, I found the third lamp, a very similar style, on a Danish website which then led me to an US site. (Which told me that the lamp is over $2,000! Total bummer.) After that, I gave up my search and started looking for glossy gold spray paints to create my own version of this lamp.

My question is – what do you do in situations like this? Have you ever searched high and low for something you’ve seen on television or another outlet? It seems that with the Internet finding such things can be pretty attainable, but what happens when you don’t find what you’re looking for that easily or affordably? Do you then DIY it?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
