If you don’t already know about Nani Marquina, it’s time you learned. One look is all it takes to appreciate the designs of her stunning floor rugs. I’m instantly drawn to the texture of these pieces and I think each has its own unique way of instantly enhancing the home. Marquina claims that the success of both her designs and brand as a whole are due to “special attention and effort in finding the right raw materials and manufacturing processes from the very beginningâ€. I definitely wouldn’t argue with that.
Nani Marquina and her designs have been recognized internationally, and it’s easy to see why. Her awards include The National Design Award and the Premi Cambra a la Gestió Empresarial (Chamber Award of Design Management) in 2005, the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Award from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, and FIDEM Award for Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year in 2007. Nanimarquina, the brand, also works with other young designers including Ana Mir, Emili Padrós, Mariana Eidler, Oriol Guimerà , Martà Guixé, Tord Boontje, Ricard Ferrer, MartÃn Azúa and Gerard Moliné. In fact, the first image featured here is a Tord Bootjte design. The other two are Marquina’s own.
