Every year, Pantone selects a color of the year by combing through the world looking for color influences in the entertainment industry, films, traveling art collections, hot new artists and popular destinations. They also select their color based on its symbolism which sets the stage for the 2014 New Year – Radiant Orchid sparks the imagination and encourages the expansion of creativity and originality.

Interior designers will have a blast with this color. Radiant Orchid makes an eye-catching hue in paint, accent pieces and accessories. This beautiful color complements olive greens and hunter greens. Radiant Orchid can also be combined with turquoise, teal and lighter yellows. One of the Christmas gifts I received this year was a beautiful paisley and floral design tapestry colored with blues and grays.
