Gold Walls: Love This Look?

As far as gold goes, I’m a sucker for it when it comes to costume jewelry and home accessories. I’d probably even go for a big gold dining table or headboard or something that made a bigger statement than the gold tray and the gold vase currently occupying space in my living room.

Something I had never even thought about until yesterday was gold walls. I mean it’s one thing to gold leaf a mirror or a picture frames – but what about the walls?! The thought seemed wild to me, but as I did some searching, I think I found a few good looks. However, I don’t think I love this look for a bedroom or living room, but perhaps for a smaller room, such as a powder room or closet. A powder room with gold leaf walls? Yes, please! And a glossy black toliet with a matching sink!

What do you think about gold walls? Do you love this look?

Lazy Days

It seems like I never have a free day to spend endless hours sunken into the couch watching lame television and reading crappy magazines and websites. Luckily, yesterday was free enough for me to do just that and it was absolutely wonderful.

Although my sofa isn’t as plush and cushiony as those above, it’s almost there. And I’m pretty sure that when we were looking at sofas, soft and plush was a main criteria with lazy days in mind. I wonder if that was the same idea for the designers/homeowners in the images above. Now that’s it’s Monday morning and time to get back into the grind, I’ll be daydreaming of my sofa and these here for the rest of the day!

How about you? Do you have a cushiony sofa that is perfect for lazy days or do you spend those days in a cushiony bed?!

Weekly Six: 8.17.11

Happy Friday! After a long week, I can’t wait for the weekend. How about you?! Not like there will be much downtime, but a little bit is better than nothing, right? Hope you have some wonderful weekend plans ahead. Here’s this week’s Weekly Six:

1 – Awesome use of the chalkboard wall, would you agree?

2 – An easy chicken dish that sounds delish.

3 – Wouldn’t mind have these marbled walls in my bathroom.

4 – Have you ever been glamping? I’m interested in trying it out!

5 – I’ve always loved a good pair of Keds. But DIY Glitter Keds – forget it!

6 – A new way to put your books on display.

And that’s all for this week – we’ll see you back here on Monday! Share your faves in the comments!

Recipe Radar: Brie!

As far as cheese goes, it seems like most people are either die-hard cheese fans or die-hard cheese haters. Personally, I’m a die-hard cheese lover. It used to be only about certain cheeses, and while I have my top favorites, I’m not as big of a discriminator as I used to be.

One of my absolute favorite cheese is brie cheese. Warm, cold, with fruit, veggies, meat, crackers – I’ll take it whichever way I can get it. And while that’s usually by throwing a small piece in the toaster for a few minutes and topping it with roasted garlic or some sort of jam, I thought I’d broaden my horizons and try some different approaches. Which leads us to today’s recipes to keep on your radar – anything and everything brie!

1 – Brie Cheese and Strawberry Puff Pastry “Ravioli”
2 – Brie and Grape Tart
3 – Pears and Camembert [or Brie, of course!]
4 – Ham, Brie and Apple Paninis
5 – Bite-Sized Baked Brie

And there you have it. What’s your favorite cheese?

Product Pick: Froissé Mirror

I love mirrors in general – but a large jagged mirror like this one? I just can’t! I need one. The way it reflects light must be absolutely beautiful in person.

The Froissé Mirror is designed by Mathias Kiss, a Hungarian artist based in Paris. The beautiful mirrors are currently on display at the Sans 90° exhibition at Galerie Armel Soyer, Paris.

Where would you put your Froissé Mirror? I’d like mine in a white room with high ceilings and TONS of light!

Garden Lust

It’s about that time of year when I’ve been spending so much time in my own backyard that I start to focus on the things it doesn’t have and what I wish it did have. One of those big things is a giant garden. I’ve got major gardenlust.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve got a good garden going on here with plenty of tomatoes that are ready to turn red. But what I would really love is the type of garden you can hang out in and admire while surrounded by different plants, flowers and fruits and vegetables. Right now we’ve just got the vegetables. [And weeds!]

Wouldn’t it be nice to have an assortment of deckchairs, sun loungers or garden tables like these surrounded by a plush garden? Oh yeah, and a pool, too, please!!!

Do you ever get garden lust? What essential pieces would you need?
