Sea Fan Lightbox
When choosing any element of your home, it’s important to consider not only the look of the piece, but the type of feeling and atmosphere it creates. The work of jefdesigns uses nature as inspiration and creates a type of peaceful tranquility that’s hard to find.  We all live in a busy world, which is why I think it’s so important to treat your home as your sanctuary. Create an environment that inspires both creativity and relaxation, and that you’ll look forward to coming home to at the end of the day. jefdesigns makes this both possible and simple with a collection of prints, panels, lightbox paintings, and hand-made lamps.

Lightbox

So I know the last couple of posts have been about lighting, but I couldn’t help but post a few words about the Lightbox from the Gus Design Group. After all, lighting is essential to the design of any room.  I’ve mentioned before my affinity for truly multifunctional products, which the Lightbox undoubtedly is. Obviously functioning as a light, this great piece is also an end table, ottoman, or pretty much whatever else you need it to be. It does all of this while taking up very little space, which anyone can appreciate. True versatility from the innovators at the Gus Design Group.  Learn more about them.

Cut Light Shade

Known for their innovative yet practical designs, Innermost lets us design our own lighting with our very own hands. The Cut Light Shade is a group of transparent, layered strips hung loosely over a light fixture. Use the provided scissors, though any will probably do, to cut the strips to your length of choice. Get creative and cut varying lengths. Make something simple or something completely abstract. No matter what design you cut, your light will be your very own design, now that’s customization!

Coffee Collection Triple Cappacino

You only need to meet me for about five minutes before my obsession, or shall we say addiction, to coffee becomes clear. So naturally I was drawn to this lighting collection.  Designed by François Legault for UNIK Sculptural Lighting, there’s no denying the creativity of these pieces. Unfortunately, I can’t really figure out a way to integrate these into my home, but I think they’d look great over a breakfast bar and of course in a café or coffee shop.

Coffee Collection Saturday Brunch

UNIK claims to “sculpt the light,” in an effort to think about lighting differently and offer original pieces. Based in Montreal, this lighting manufacturer has several unique sculptural lighting collections and also offers custom made fixtures.

Sound Chair in White

Inspired by sound, the unique Sound Chair represents a completely new approach to design. The Sound Chair was designed by Matthew Plummer Fernandez, who was inspired not by something he saw but rather something he heard. From volume, time, and frequency, a 3D object was born. Built as an exact replica of a soundwave graph, the Sound Chair has a dual existence as both a sound and a chair.  Learn more about the designer and his inspiration.

Christian Flindt Gives Stackable A New Meaning

Rainbow Chairs

Christian Flindt’s Rainbow Chairs give a whole new meaning to stackable chairs. We’ve always know stackable to mean one on top of another, but Flindt challenges this preconception.  Stacking sideways, the Rainbow Chairs have the same versatility as traditional stacking chairs but in a whole new way. Flindt also takes color into consideration, as the semi-transparent colors of these chairs resemble a rainbow when stalked together.

Rainbow Chairs

“I am interested in communication between people.
I want to rethink furniture in a way that they will inspire people to make new connections.”
- Christian Flindt

Rainbow Chairs

While the unique design of these chairs is certainly enough to catch anyone’s attention, their ability to be used even when “stacked,” really caught my attention. These chairs fit together to form something like a bench, so even when not really in use, they still offer an extra seat or two. Learn more about the talented Christian Flindt.
