D.I.Y. Throw Pillow !

National Sewing Month is almost over. Have you taken up any new projects this month? If not, here’s an easy DIY pillow tutorial to try!

Before throwing out that old t-shirt that doesn’t fit anymore, has a hole in it, or hasĀ unraveling stitching, recycle it by making a throw pillow! Tees that have a graphic on them work great, or you can even use a plain white tee and add a quote or ruffles to it.

What you will need: T-shirt, Scissors, Pins, Pillow Stuffing, Sewing Machine or Needle & Thread

Step 1: Iron the t-shirt and lay it on a flat surface.

Step 2: Decide how big you want the pillow and mark it with chalk or a marker, making sure to allow an extra 1/2″ all around for seam allowance.

Step 3: Pin the front and back sides of the t-shirt together within your markings and cut both pieces together.

Step 4: With right sides of the pillow together, sew with a 1/2″ seam allowance, all around leaving 2″ open to stuff the pillow.

Step 5: Once the pillow is stuffed, sew the 2″ opening closed by hand. That’s it!
