Kitchen Countertops

We just got a new Keurig coffee maker in our house which brings the total of coffee related items on my counter to four. It’s way too much and it gives me anxiety, but my fiance is a major coffee lover who tries to compromise with me by hiding his coffee grinder in the corner behind the espresso machine!

Fortunately, I was able to bring the large coffee pot downstairs, so we can pull it out when there are more people over and the Keurig won’t cut it. But still, there are a lot of items on our countertops, such as a knife block, a toaster oven, the paper towel holder and a basket for fruits and vegetables.

This new addition has had me thinking about kitchen countertops and what others do in their own home. Most people I know have similar items that I have with permanent residency on their counters. But others I know keep their toaster oven and coffee pot in cabinets underneath to avoid counter clutter. If I had more cabinet space, I would likely do this, but I don’t! What I would love to do is build a hiding spot for all this coffee stuff, as in the second image above. Wouldn’t that be nice?

So tell me – do you your kitchen countertops look like any of the above – do you have barely anything on your counters, everything on them – or special storage spots?

Book Picks

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday! I’m traveling this week for the holiday, so instead of a Weekly Six, I’m bringing you some book picks. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a good chick lit novel, but I do love a good memoir as well. What about you – what type of books do you gravitate towards?

Whether you’re also traveling or just enjoying a lazy day this holiday weekend, these are some books that have been on my Kindle wish list most recently.

1 – Gone Girl
2 – The Perks of Being a Wallflower
3 – Where We Belong
4 – Let’s Pretend This Never Happened
5 – Just Kids

What books are on your wish list or what have you read that you can recommend??

Product Pick: Nodo Tables

We’ll take a break from all of the Thanksgiving talk and keep it a normal Wednesday with a colorful Product Pick. What you see above is the Nodo Collection of Tables by Pentagono Estudio.

The tables are made from fiberglass fibers that are interwoven together in a specific way that provides balance for the table to stand on its own. The second picture gives a nice upclose and personal look into this detail.

The photos and information on these tables were found on Design Milk, and there is no mention of other colors being available. I wouldn’t mind the fluorescent yellow though – would you?

Thanksgiving Menu Cards

Even if you’re having a small Thanksgiving get-together, placing menu cards at each setting adds a nice formal touch. You may remember from Friday’s Weekly Six, some free Thanksgiving printables were included in the link list. That list, however, didn’t include any menu cards, so that’s what today is all about!

It really is nice that those with graphic design skills offer such adorable printables for free to everyone throughout the Internet. The first menu above is from Sarah Hearts, who has a ton of free printables on her website – and they all coordinate so you can have a fabulous suite right at your fingertips. For nothing but the cost of paper and ink!

The second menu comes from Brooklyn Limestone, who also graciously offers a variety of free printables throughout her website.

Will you be using printables to dress up your Thanksgiving table? You still have a couple days to put it together!
