Key Mouse

keymouse

While laptops offer a lot of convenience, the one thing I sometimes miss is the set of number keys found on the right of any standard keyboard. Well, apparently I am not the only one to notice, and designer Sun Lihui addresses this in the Key Mouse. The Key Mouse is plenty portable, which it needs to be to keep up with your laptop, and it’s also got a fun design that’s impossible to notice. It’s actually a bluetooth mouse (another thing missing from laptops!), but when you open its retractable hood you find a set of number keys inside.

A fun design and a great way to end the week here at 6DW! Check back Monday for more as always :)

re-light3

At 6DW we are all about recycling and reusing, and Italian design studio King + offers a great example of the stunning design that can come out of it. It has created a series of pendant lamps that are made from recycled textile spools. These pendants are available in a variety of colors and have been appropriately named Re + .

In addition to their construction from recycled spools, these pendants also feature LED bulbs, which provide an 85% increase in energy savings over traditional light bulbs.

Light Sommelier

light-sommelier3

As someone who enjoys wine of both the red and white varieties, I was pretty thrilled to come across the Light Sommelier. An interactive wine bottle and glass, it lights up and dims with different motions. As you pour the wine from bottle to glass, the glass lights up. Tip the glass over and the light dims. The intensity of the light even varies by how much wine you pour. So the more full your glass is, no only the happier you are but the brighter your glass is.

We’ve long known that mirrors can add to the look of a room, even making some appear larger.  But the Addiction Collection mirrors do more than enhance your space, they make it.  Each is undoubtedly an instant focal point in any room in which it’s added and each has such a unique look it’s a sure conversation starter.

applied-literature-table

Applied literature takes on a whole new meaning in Ivanka Beton’s unique table design.  The Applied Literature Table is collaboration between Beton and fine artist Janos Hubler. This table is made of concrete, and its design enables it to incorporate you own collection of literary masterpieces. It takes on a new look with each user, as books can be changed, added, and removed.

Applied Literature will be exhibited at Hidden Heroes in Milan. Lots of great design to see there this week!  See more from Ivanka Beton here.
